Class Structure:. This is a blended class, meaning you will have students from various math courses in the classroom with you. You can work at your own pace with a combination of computer and in person learning, as long as you meet the specified deadlines. We will use packets, paper-based assessments, online video learning, and tracking sheets to make sure you master the necessary material.
Assessments: I gather information for two distinct reasons: to make instructional decisions (diagnostic and formative assessments) and to communicate a summary of my students’ achievement (summative assessment). Grades for this class will be calculated with the following weighting:
Formative: 50% - Packet completion and “check ins”
Summative: 30% - Summatives
Participation: 20% - "Why Thursdays"
Honor Code: Be Honest! If caught cheating, you will receive a zero. Continued attempts at cheating will fall under the discipline rubric. See the cheating policy in your school handbook for more information.
Submission and Make-Up Policies: Work must be completed by the assigned midterm and quarter deadlines. Work submitted after the end of the quarter will not be accepted. All graded work must be submitted to me in person.
Retakes/Interventions: Retakes may be available on a case-by-case basis. Students may be required to work 1:1 with me or complete a review before retaking a test. If you are struggling or falling behind, come see me so we can develop a plan to get you back on track.
Classroom Expectations:
Be prompt, polite and prepared for the day’s activities.
Respect the teacher and fellow students. Make sure we are interacting the TCA Way!
Follow our community norms.
Attempt every problem. I need to know what you know, and, more importantly, what you don’t!
Come in ready to work for the full class period. If you respect my time, I will respect yours.
These policies are subject to change at any time.
